Welcome to my page. I'm Chris Liedle, a general news reporter for KATU News, Channel 2 in Portland, Oregon.
For the past several years, I've given the Oregon audience a voice, telling stories that impact our viewers.
I've covered major national and international stories, including the mass school shooting at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg in 2015 and the armed occupation in Eastern Oregon.
I started my career in San Diego, my hometown, as a part-time surf reporter.
In May of 2013, I moved to Eugene, where I became the primetime reporter for KVAL-TV. There, I covered high-profile sexual assault cases at the University of Oregon. I revealed overpayment mistakes by the Social Security Administration, returning thousands of dollars to victims. Most notably, I dropped into Lane County's largest outdoor, illegal marijuana grow in 2013. The massive, $40 million seizure attracted the attention from CBS News and CNN.
I graduated from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles with a B.A. in History, which seems to surprise many people!
Before my TV career, I worked as an ocean lifeguard for six years in the City of Del Mar. I competed in several state lifeguard championships and was featured on the Weather Channel's docudrama, "Lifeguard! Southern California."
Off air, I spend most of my time outdoors, surfing in the chilly water off the Oregon Coast or backpacking deep in the forest.
Watch me #LiveOnK2 weekdays from 4-7p.m!
